Parameter Estimation and Data Assimilation in Groundwater Modeling

The project, supervised by Prof. Veroy-Grepl and Prof. Wellmann, consists of three stages: the forward problem, the data assimilation and an application to a groundwater problem. For the forward problem, the Reduced Basis Method is implemented and efficiency studies are performed. This method is combined with ensemble Kalman filtering and 4D-Var during the data assimilation.
