On September 1st, 2016 the AICES Graduate School held its biennial Advisory Board Meeting. The members Prof. Thomas J.R. HughesProf. David BogleProf. William GroppProf. Max GunzbergerProf. Antonio HuertaProf. Rupert Klein, and Dr. Anna Schreieck were informed about recent developments, research results, and future plans through presentations of selected research group leaders as well as a poster presentation by the doctoral students of the AICES Graduate School. After a closed discussion, the Advisory Board subsequently presented ideas and suggestions towards shaping and ensuring the future of the Graduate School. 

We would like to thank all participants for the very successful day. 

AICES Fellow Markus Krauss Has Passed his Doctoral Exam

Markus Krauss

Markus Krauss started as AICES fellow in 2011 and received his Ph.D. degree in August 2016. His research on Bayesian Population PBPK - Approach for Efficient Support of Drug Development, has been advised by Prof. Dr. Schuppert. 

Markus now works at Bayer.

Marek Behr held a Plenary Lecture at the World Congress on Computational Mechanics in Korea

The 12th World Congress on Computational Mechanics took place from July 24th to July 29th in Seoul, Korea. The congress is a forum to communicate and share new ideas and methods that will foster the development across all aspects of computational methods and their applications in mechanics, engineering and applied sciences. 

AICES Scientific Director Marek Behr held a Plenary Lecture on Complex Fluids in Production and Biomedical Engineering.

Former AICES Fellow Markus Bachmayr gets a W2-Professorship in Bonn

Markus Bachmayr

Markus received his doctoral degree in October 2012. Prof. Dr. Dahmen has advised his research on Adaptive low rank wavelet methods and applications to two-electron Schrödinger equations. 

In September he’ll start working as a Bonn Junior Fellow at the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics at the University of Bonn

AICES Fellow Bahodir Ahmedov Has Passed his Doctoral Exam

Ahmedov Defense

Bahodir Ahmedov started as AICES fellow in 2012 and received his Ph.D. degree in August 2016. His research on Approximation Methods and Reduced Models for Optimal Radiation Treatment, has been advised by Prof. Dr. Herty and Prof. Dr. Frank. 

Bahodir now works as an Associate Professor at Inha University in Tashkent.
