AICES Fellow Daniel Tameling Has Passed His Doctoral Exam

Daniel started as an AICES Fellow in 2012 and received his doctoral degree in July 2017. His research Design, Implementation, and Error Analysis of the Multilevel Summation Method for Dispersion, has been advised by Prof. Ismail Ph.D. and Prof. Bientinesi Ph.D.

Daniel will start at NEC Deutschland GmbH.

AICES Junior Research Group Leader Florian Wellmann Gets Teaching Award

Since 2010, the student council geoscience and natural resources management of RWTH Aachen University awards their teachers with teaching awards. The election is done by the Students at their general assembly. The award is divided into three sections. “best lesson” , “best innovation of teaching / teaching promotion prize“ and “special accomplishment” . This year, AICES Junior Research Group Leader Florian Wellmann got awarded in the section of „ best innovation of teaching / teaching promotion prize “ . The price is paid with 1.000 euro.

Charlemagne Distinguished Lecture Series: AICES Welcomes Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Marquardt

Twice a year, the AICES fellows organize the prestigious Charlemagne Lecture, whose objective is to invite persons, who have achieved impressive accomplishments throughout their career and, in this sense, to get inspired by their scientific achievements. 
As the 13th speaker, the AICES fellows invited Professor Dr. Wolfgang Marquardt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich. Professor Dr. Marquardt gave a talk on "Energiewende - Opportunities for Systems Modelling and Optimization" on July 17, 2017 at 3pm in the Generali Hall of Super C (6th floor). 
We were very pleased about his visit and we will be honoured to welcome Wolfgang Marquardt any time again.


4th International Conference on Computational Engineering (ICCE 2017)

The International Conference on Computational Engineering (ICCE), which takes place from Thursday, September 28, to Friday, September 29, 2017, provides a meeting place for researchers and practitioners working on computational methods in all disciplines of engineering and applied mathematics, with a special focus on doctoral researchers and young scientists. The aim of the conference is to discuss the state of the art in this challenging field, develop promising perspectives for future research and initiate cooperations.

The conference is organized by the Graduate School of Computational Engineering (GSC CE) at TU Darmstadt together with the International Graduate School of Science and Engineering (IGSSE) at Technical University of Munich, the Stuttgart Research Center for Simulation Technology (SimTech) at University of Stuttgart and the Aachen Institute for Advanced Study in Computational Engineering Science (AICES) at RWTH Aachen University.

Prof. Dr. Anupam Saxena does a research stay at RWTH Aachen University

Within the framework of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Prof. Dr. Anupam Saxena will do a three months’ research stay at RWTH Aachen, beginning in May.

The stays purpose is, to continue the academic cooperation with his German specialist colleagues.

His hosts will be the Department of Mechanism Theory and Dynamics of Machines with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Corves, as well as the AICES Graduate School with Prof. Dr. Sauer.

Prof. Dr. Anupam Saxena has been to Aachen before, in July 2016, where he gave a seminar within the framework of the EU Regional School.

We are very pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Saxena in Aachen, again.
