AICES Fellow Thang Xuan Duong Has Passed His Doctoral Exam
Thang started as AICES Fellow in 2011 and received his doctoral degree in April 2017. His research on Efficient Contact Computations Based on Isogeometric Discretization, Mortar Methods and Refined Boundary Quadrature, has been advised by Prof Dr. Sauer.
Thang will stay with us as an AICES postdoctoral associate.
AICES Fellow Niklas Mevenkamp Has Passed His Doctoral Exam
Niklas started as AICES Fellow in 2013 and received his doctoral degree in April 2017. His research on Non-Local Denoising and Unsupervised Quantitative Analysis in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy , has been advised by Prof Dr. Berkels and Prof. Dr. Dahmen.
Niklas now works at Carl Zeiss AG in Jena.
AICES Junior Research Group Leader Prof. Dr. Ming Hu is selected as Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports
Scientific Reports is a magazine, published by an international publisher for scientific publications “Nature Publishing Group”. It covers all of the natural and clinical sciences.
Editorial board members are specialists in their research field, with an active research career.As a member of the editorial Board, his tasks are to peer review the manuscripts which is the foundation for the decision on whether the papers are published or not.

AICES Fellow Martin Carballo Pacheco Has Passed His Doctoral Exam
Martin started as AICES Fellow in 2013 and received his doctoral degree in March 2017. His research on Atomistic Simulations of Amyloidogenic Peptides and their Aggregation, has been advised by Prof Dr. Strodel and Prof. Ismail, Ph.D.
Martin now works as postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh.
AICES Fellow Kai Schüller contributes to REXUS rocket experiment project VIPER
The DLR REXUS rocket project VIPER aims atinvestigating melting processes under low gravity and pressure conditions. The project recently passed its preliminary design review at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen, and is now scheduled for launch from SSC, Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden in early 2018.
