Prof. Dr. Manuel Torrilhon appointed as Professor of the Chair for Mathematics (CCES)

Prof. Dr. Manuel Torrilhon received his Dipl.-Math. in Engineering Physics from Technical University Berlin in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from ETH Zurich in 2003. He worked as a Post-Doc in Hong Kong and at Princeton, before returning to ETH Zurich as Assistant Professor in the Seminar for Applied Mathematics during 2006-2010. As a new professor in the Department of Mathematics and the Center for Computational Engineering Science (CCES) at RWTH Aachen University, his research focuses on mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of gases and plasmas based on kinetic transport theory, magnetohydrodynamics and other multiphysics and multiscale approaches.
