CAMMP Week Fall 2013

“CAMMP was a great experience and in many respects a widening of the horizon. After working all night, it is just awesome to find a solution.”

The positive feedback illustrates that the CAMMP week, this time organized by the association MINT- EC and the RWTH´s coordination office of projects for students, was a full success: in fact, 90 % of the CAMMP participants from all over Germany claimed that they could very well imagine studying at RWTH Aachen University.

MINT-EC offers events and programs in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) for high school students, teachers, and school administrations, with the objective to make high school students aware of their talents and to guarantee a high-quality STEM education in German schools. The education lab CAMMP similarly wants to develop sustainable interest in the different STEM fields.

Under the supervision of researchers from RWTH Aachen University four different groups constructed solutions to four different real-world problems drawn from industry, business or government, which required the use of mathematical as well as computational models. The AICES Graduate School, MathCCES and the Molecular Simulations Group guaranteed the academic know-how by finding the questions and ensuring subject-specific support.

The final presentation of the results took place at the Super-C building of RWTH Aachen University.
