AICES Participated in RWTH Consulting Days for Students
On January 28, 29 and 30, 2014, the RWTH´s student counseling center invited school students to visit RWTH Aachen University, providing all the important information about university life and career prospects at RWTH Aachen University.
Also the Graduate School AICES participated in the consulting days by offering an insight into the studies of the Computational Engineering Science (CES) Master´s program. The study of CES is an interdisciplinary program refering to the fields of engineering, natural sciences as well as mathematics. CES is designed to educate engineers who have the capability of carrying out simulations and evaluating them. CES-students are trained to analyze results and to critically question the simulation algorithm or the mathematical model. It is a complex task finding a mathematical model for the solution and evaluation of technical problems. It should enable the computer to calculate and solve a complex problem under almost realistic conditions. These capabilities and also employing high-performance computers in the process are needed to meet the scientific and technological challenges of the future.
During three days, three former CES-students answered all kind of questions regarding CES and discussed the growing activities, opportunities and challenges in this particular field. In total more than 6000 prospective high school students, seized the opportunity to inquire about possible degree courses at RWTH Aachen University.
