AICES Develops Quality Management System for StemCellFactory
In the BIO.NRW call 2010 the StemCellFactory consortium was approved in the first round of evaluation. In the consortium, consisting of nine partners from academic research and industry, lead by RWTH Aachen and University Bonn, the group of Prof. Schuppert (AICES) will develop biomarkers for automated quality monitoring of the StemCellFactory process. The automated process will produce induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) from biopsies and as well as re-differentiated neural or cardiac cells. which requires novel biomarkers for continuous assessment of cell quality. Since these cells have not been available yet in a standardized, automated process, the project will provide new perspectives for drug development and toxicity testing.
