Prof. Dr. Christoph Van Treeck - Human-Centered Indoor Thermal Quality Performance Analysis
Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building Design E3D, RWTH Aachen University
For a human-centred view on energy efficiency and thermal quality performance inside spaces, a co-simulation procedure is presented for scale-adaptive indoor thermal climate simulation. The developments comprise a middleware platform for coupling heterogeneous computational codes for distributed simulations. Coupling components are, for example, a human physiological model, a thermal radiation solver and a computational fluid dynamics code. Further empirical knowledge of thermal comfort assessment, gained from experiments with test subjects, is integrated into the codes. The researchers currently apply the framework to a joint project with the automotive industry in order to improve the thermo management of the next generation of electro mobiles by developing new low exergetic car climatization techniques.
